Ontario One Call is introducing enhancements to locate request processing designed to improve efficiency and reduce request suspensions.
The system update is scheduled to take effect on the evening of September 9, 2026, and users will begin seeing these improvements in request handling on September 10.
How Locate Request Processing Is Evolving
The way you submit a locate request will not change. You can continue submitting locate requests through the Ontario One Call web portal as you do today.
These system enhancements improve how locate requests are processed and validated, streamlining request handling and reducing suspensions, while continuing to support safe digging.
For anyone submitting a locate request, this means:
- Fewer requests requiring clarification
- Less time spent resolving suspended requests
- Fewer delays caused by suspended requests
Changes to Access Road and Ramp Naming
As part of these enhancements, Ontario One Call is updating how Ramps are identified within the mapping system.
Historically, some requests involving roads identified only as “RAMP” would suspend due to the existence of multiple ‘ramps’ in the same area.
To improve clarity, over the coming months, generic ramp names will be updated to a naming convention that combines adjoining street names followed by “ACCESS RD.”
For example:
Previously: RAMP
Updated: [STREET NAME] – [STREET NAME], ACCESS RD

These enhancements are part of Ontario One Call’s ongoing commitment to improving the locate request experience and supporting timely and safe excavation across the province.
