The Ontario One Call Rules for Members and Excavators is a go-to document for stakeholders to understand what their obligations are and how to stay compliant. It is a plainly written document that combines everything that stakeholders need to know about our law, by-laws, and regulations, and how to apply them.  

The document details the following:

• Definition of what a Member is and their obligations to register, pay Ontario One Call’s fees, and maintain insurance  
• Definition of all types of locate requests 
• Member or Dedicated Locator completion timelines
•  Excavators’ Obligations, including the time in which to request a locate, not digging without completed or expired locates, how to share locates, and consequences for abusing the locate system
•  Members’ obligations, including maintaining receiving equipment, providing adequate, accurate, timely and complete locates, the minimum locate validity period, and consequences for abusing the system by providing false information
• The complaint and investigation process and potential outcomes, as well as the ability for a contravener to dispute a compliance outcome.
