Dear Stakeholder,
As requirements under the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act, 2012 (the Act) have changed over time, Ontario One Call has continually adapted to ensure its offerings support a robust locating system throughout the province, with a view of promoting safety and efficiency, as well as supporting underground infrastructure owners’ compliance efforts.
Changes to the Act have meant that Ontario One Call’s remark offering will need to be removed in light of language specifying that locate validity periods end once markings are no longer visible.
As part of our efforts to enhance the operating process and promote safety, the “remark” option will be removed from our web portal as of March 28, 2025.
Why the change?
This change ensures consistency in locate request procedures and is in accordance with the requirements of the Act. It has also been informed by industry feedback, which was collected through engaging with industry representatives to gather insights and guidance on this change. Their input helped shape our approach to ensure the transition is practical and beneficial for all the stakeholders.
