Dear Stakeholders,
Ontario One Call is working with the Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORCGA) and Underground Infrastructure Owners (UIOs) to improve damage reporting across Ontario using the Damage Information Reporting Tool (DIRT), beginning with reporting for the 2026 calendar year.
This initiative is built on partnership and shared responsibility, with the goal of improving safety outcomes for workers, communities, and underground infrastructure.
Accurate damage reporting helps us all identify risk, prevent repeat incidents, and improve safety outcomes.
Damage Reporting Expectations
Ontario One Call will work directly with UIOs to support timely damage and near-miss reporting through ORCGA DIRT. Organizations with the highest notification volumes play a key role in strengthening industry-wide data and safety outcomes and are asked to complete reporting by mid-January 2027, with quarterly submissions recommended to support consistency and ease.
Information collected through DIRT will be used to identify trends and adjust education and compliance focus areas in response to emerging risks. Throughout this process, Ontario One Call’s Stakeholder Engagement team will provide guidance, resources, and training to make reporting as simple and effective as possible.
All other UIOs are encouraged to participate. Every report contributes to a clearer understanding of risk across Ontario and supports safer practices for everyone.
How to Report
Damage information is submitted through ORCGA’s Damage Information Reporting Tool (DIRT), an industry-wide system used to support damage prevention analysis and continuous improvement: CGA – Login
