Welcome to the Locate Request Activity Dashboard
This dashboard will be updated on the first working day of each month and present the year-to-date information.
Terminology:
- Locate Request: A Locate Request is submitted by an individual or organization planning to dig. It starts the process of identifying and marking underground infrastructure so the excavation can be done safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Public Stream Request: This type of request is submitted through the Ontario One Call system through the web portal. Each Underground Infrastructure Owner (UIO) is responsible for marking their own infrastructure at the excavation site.
- DL Request: This request is submitted through the Ontario One Call system and is fulfilled by a Dedicated Locator (DL). A Dedicated Locator is a service provider assigned to manage locate requests in a specific area or for a specific utility. Instead of each utility sending their own team, the DL completes most or all of the locates on behalf of multiple Underground Infrastructure Owners. This helps streamline the locating process, especially for large or ongoing projects.
- Total Locate Request: This is the total number of locate requests submitted, combining both Public Stream Requests and DL Requests. It represents the overall volume of activity requiring utility locates.
User types:
- Business: An entity involved in commercial activities that may be performing excavation work or managing a construction site.

- Advanced Request: This is for larger projects or multiple address locate requests. The Underground Infrastructure Owner will complete the clearance check within 10 business days to confirm that it is safe to proceed with excavation across multiple locations or a larger area.
- Emergency Request: This type of request is for situations where there is an immediate threat to safety, such as gas leaks or damaged infrastructure. A clearance check or on-site visit will be conducted within two hours to address the emergency and prevent further risk.
- Priority 0 Request: This request is for high-importance situations that are not emergencies but still require prompt attention. Clearance is provided within 24 hours to ensure that work can proceed without delay.
